Personal Projects

My heart has been driven by a deep yearning to uncover and share stories that truly matter. Whether it's an animal, a human being, or even a seemingly ordinary geological formation, I am captivated by the hidden narratives that exist within them. I seek out the untold and shine a spotlight on deserving causes with my images.

Nancy

Nancy, 92-year old, was one of the oldest surfers in New Zealand (and maybe in the world). She lived a special life by the ocean. I documented the last year of her life, showing her recipes for longevity.

Auckland Islands Expedition - Southern Right Whale Research

My immense passion for our oceans and marine mammals led me to take part in a 3-week scientific expedition to the Auckland Islands in the Subantarctic, in the winter of 2021. I documented the thorough research on southern right whales led by Dr Emma Carroll, from the University of Auckland.

Wētā Motels

On Banks Peninsula near Christchurch in New Zealand, I documented the construction of wooden shelters, destined to protect some threatened insects, the native tree wētā (some of the biggest and quirkiest insects in the world).

Pōhatu Penguins - Research and Penguin Sanctuary

In November 2022 I spent some time with the team at Pōhatu Penguins on Banks Peninsula, documenting their incredible conservation work for the largest Australasian little penguin colony on mainland New Zealand.
